Skins is coming back... Skins isn't coming back... we didn't know what to believe when we logged onto Twitter today.

The hashtag has been trending heavily all over social media this afternoon (August 13) - buried among far less important things like the return of the Premier League and National Prosecco Day - and people were suspicious and excited in equal measure.

Never letting the fact that it doesn't seem to come from anywhere in particular put them off, fans have been losing their minds.

But hold up, here's E4 to bring our teenage selves back down to earth with a bang, shrugging off the rumours in the most 2016 way possible - with a GIF.

It's not exactly the firmest denial in the world so are they playing coy, or are we just hoping against hope? Digital Spy has reached out to Channel 4 for comment.

Series co-creator Bryan Elsley has previously hinted that a potential online version of the popular television series could be in the works, and former Skins actor Will Merrick supported the idea while talking to Digital Spy back in January.
