Could Ricky Gervais bring back Extras after David Brent's big screen return?

Speaking to Digital Spy at the BAFTA TV Awards 2016 last night (May 8), Ashley Jensen revealed that she wouldn't need much persuading if Extras was to return in some form.

"It's a programme that's so dear to people's hearts, but I don't know. Who knows, there seems to be a lot of things coming back. Sometimes it's quite dignified to leave things with people wanting more," Jensen said.

"I would do it again in a shot. I love the character and I love the show and Ricky is just such fun to work with."

The actress also spoke about Catastrophe, which was confirmed last month to be coming back for a third series.

Jensen admitted she has "absolutely no idea" what will happen in the next run but added that "hopefully I'll be able to do a little bit more on it this year".

The show's co-star and co-writer Sharon Horgan missed out on a BAFTA last night, but Jensen thought that Horgan shouldn't have been the only one getting recognition.

"I have to say I'm incredibly disappointed that Rob Delaney [didn't get nominated] because I think they play off each other so beautifully and the writing is sublime. They're like gin and tonic," Jensen noted.

Extras ran for two series and a Christmas special between 2005 and 2007 on BBC Two in the UK and HBO in the US.

For her role as Maggie Jacobs, Jensen won two British Comedy Awards for Best Television Comedy Actress and Best Television Comedy Newcomer in 2005.
