Scott & Bailey is going out in a blaze of glory - and before people get "bored of the characters" - according to star Suranne Jones.
Jones told Digital Spy that it feels like the right time to wrap up the cop show, after news broke earlier this week that the current fifth series will be its last.

"I think me and Lesley Sharp [who plays DS Janet Scott] feel like we've grown with those characters over five years," said Jones, who's played detective Rachel Bailey since 2011.
"It was nice for me to do a self-contained, three-part episode - and also be a producer on it, and say goodbye to it that way, so that I was part of the whole this time."
Jones admitted that she, Sharp and the creative team "kind of knew" that the series was coming to a natural conclusion.
"It's good to go out when people are still liking it, and not when people are bored of the characters," she added.
The final episode of Scott & Bailey will air this Wednesday (April 27) at 9pm on ITV.
The 2016 House of Fraser British Academy Television Awards will take place at London's Royal Festival Hall on Sunday, May 8.
