Skins was once the edgiest show on telly - now it's the stuff of hazy nostalgia.

But could E4's teen drama ever come back and speak to a whole new generation of kids?

Series co-creator Bryan Elsley has previously hinted at a "re-imagining" of Skins that could launch online - and now one of the show's stars is backing the idea.

"If it's ever going to work, I think that would probably be the best way," Will Merrick - who played Alo in the fifth and sixth series - told Digital Spy.

"Skins is really accessible - the idea of what Skins is, you can constantly come back to. It's being young and finding yourself.

"It's going through the ups and downs of adolescence and learning lessons along the way - so I think that's always a story that you can go back to.

"I think it's always an interesting story to tell, in different forms. So yeah, online? Great - it's a different form and it would take a different shape and I'd be really excited to see that."

Will Merrick stars in The Rack Pack, available exclusively on BBC iPlayer from January 17 at 9pm.

What do you think? Could Skins be as vivid and vital and brilliant and offensive as ever online? Or has the show had its time?
