Gavin & Stacey's Alison Steadman has spoken about the beloved comedy show’s final moments, and got a little bit emotional talking about it.

Appearing on today's (December 14) Saturday Kitchen, Steadman spoke to host Matt Tebbutt about playing Pam Shipman for one last time.

Right at the end of the episode, she said (with a slight tear forming in her eye): "It was really emotional. We had the best time, it was lovely. We all really enjoyed it.

"And being back in Barry, everyone's so warm and friendly, it was lovely. But of course, when we finally wrapped, it was really sad, because we think, 'Ooh, we won't be together again'. We were all really emotional."

She also praised Ruth Jones and James Corden (who also play Nessa and Smithy) for not only writing brilliantly funny scripts, but also for not changing lines of dialogue last-minute.

"Very often, when you're acting, the night before a shoot you'll get, 'Oh sorry, that's cut. Learn this'. You think, 'Oh no, I've got to learn another two pages for the morning'," she said.

"They never do that. Once their script is locked that's what you do. Because the writing is so brilliant. They don't need to change it."

She also reminisced about working with the duo on their previous project Fat Friends, and spoke about her new memoir Out of Character.

Gavin & Stacey: The Finale airs on Christmas Day on BBC One. Previous episodes are available to stream now on BBC iPlayer, while a behind-the-scenes special airs on December 23 on BBC Radio 2. Saturday Kitchen airs on Saturdays, also on BBC One.
