Squid Game creator Hwang Dong-hyuk teases a frustrating season two finale for fans of the gory Netflix K-drama.
When asked what viewers' reaction would be to season two's conclusion, Hwang told Digital Spy that fans would not be happy with him.
"When [fans] watch the end of season two, they're going to be very upset with me because they're going to be like, 'How can you do this to us? We want season three immediately'," said the showrunner.
However, Hwang promised the wait wouldn't be in vain.

"What I can tell you is it's going to be good for you to take that short break and wait for season three, because I can say for sure that it is definitely going to be worth the wait, so I want to say, please bear with us," the creator said.
Hwang expanded on what fans could expect from the season two arc and how it will tie together with season three.

"If you look at seasons two and three from a larger perspective, it is a single story, but in the midst of it, there is this inflection point that sort of catapults the story into a different direction, which is going to be the ending of season two," he stated.

The Squid Game boss also gave an update on the progress of season three, revealing: "I actually wrote and shot seasons two and three in order at the same time so season two is almost done, as you know, and season three we're almost done with the editing portion of it."
He added: "We're going to do our very best to make sure we get season three done as soon as possible so that it can be shown to the viewers."
Season three is set to be the third and final instalment of the series and is scheduled to be released sometime in 2025.
Squid Game season 2 drops on Netflix on December 26. Season 1 and reality show spin-off Squid Game: The Challenge are available to stream on the service now.
