James Corden has broken his silence on potential funeral scenes in the final episode of Gavin and Stacey.

The hit comedy will be airing its last-ever episode this Christmas, which recently wrapped filming.

While concrete details on the plot remain under wraps for now, Corden teased in a recent public appearance at the Global Gift Gala (via Hello) that funeral scenes in the episode are "hard to watch".

Viewers will also be keen to learn the outcome of the big 2019 cliffhanger, where Nessa got down on one knee to propose to Smithy.

Teasing the episode, star Ruth Jones recently said following the conclusion of filming in Barry: “We hope that you won’t be disappointed on Christmas Day, when all will be revealed. This is our farewell now to Barry and to Trinity Street, so you won’t be seeing us here anymore but we’ve had a wonderful 17 years. It’s been fantastic.”

The special was confirmed by Corden in May after much speculation, the star sharing the news with a picture of himself and Jones holding a script.

Gavin & Stacey series 1-3 are available to stream on BBC iPlayer. The Gavin & Stacey 2024 Christmas Special will air on Christmas Day on BBC One and BBC iPlayer.
