A Thousand Blows, a new Disney+ drama from Peaky Blinders boss Steven Knight, has just shared a first look at some of its cast in-character – including Stephen Graham, Malachi Kirby and Erin Doherty.
The six-part series, which was filmed in the UK, is set in the perilous world of illegal boxing in 1880s' Victorian London.
The newly-released stills show Stephen Graham in the ring as Sugar Goodson, described as a seasoned and dangerous boxer. The beloved British actor – who was also recently seen filming for Netflix's upcoming crime drama Adolescence – also has an executive producer credit on A Thousand Blows.
We've also been given a first look at Malachi Kirby (a BAFTA award-winning actor who previously starred in Steve McQueen's BBC anthology Small Axe), who leads as Hezekiah Moscow. From Jamaica, he will find himself thrust into the violence of a post-industrial revolution London's East End.
Through the thriving boxing scene, Hezekiah will meet Mary Carr (The Crown's breakout star Erin Doherty) – leader of a notorious all-female London gang called The Forty Elephants.
Hezekiah will come up against Sugar Goodson, and the pair will become locked in an intense rivalry that spills outside of the boxing ring.

Steven Knight – creator, writer and executive producer – said, "The love and care that went into this thrilling production is evident on screen from the first moment. What makes the story we tell all the more compelling is that it is based on the lives of real people who lived extraordinary lives in extraordinary times."
While Knight is the lead writer for the series, episodes of A Thousand Blows have also been written by a group of new voices including Ameir Brown, Insook Chappell, Harlan Davies and Yasmin Joseph.
Hannah Walters (Boiling Point), Francis Lovehall (BBC's Champion), James Nelson-Joyce (Time) and Jason Tobin (Warrior) are among the additional cast.
Production has wrapped on two series, and A Thousand Blows season one is coming to Disney+ in 2025.
