Former Doctor Who star Christopher Eccleston has landed his next lead role in a Cold War biopic titled Whispers of Freedom.

According to Deadline, Thor: The Dark World star Eccleston and A Royal Affair actor Thomas W. Gabrielsson have rounded out the cast of the British-German co-production.

Based on a true story and set in East Berlin in the 1980s, Whispers of Freedom tells the story of a young East German named Chris Gueffroy, the last person who was shot and the second-last person to die while trying to flee to the West across the Berlin Wall.
