Doctor Who star John Bishop has been branded "unprofessional" by some fans after rescheduling a date on his comedy tour to watch the Euros final.

The comedian is currently in the middle of his Back At It live tour across the UK, and is due to play Wolverhampton this Sunday (July 14).

However, following England making it through to the Euros 2024 final on that date, Bishop has told fans that he will be rescheduling his Sunday evening tour stop to the afternoon in order to watch the match.

"This is a message to all the people coming to Wolverhampton on Sunday – I'm not doing the show at 8 o'clock," he said in a video clip following England's triumph over the Netherlands in the semi-final this week.

"The show's gonna get moved to the afternoon. You're all gonna get am email in the morning telling you the time.

"I know it won't suit everybody, so anyone who can't make it we'll give you a refund. But we're definitely gonna move the time to Sunday afternoon, 'cause there's no chance I'm gonna being doing it at 8 o'clock, 'cause I'm gonna be busy watching these boys."

Bishop has since received some backlash over the decision, one fan writing on X (formerly Twitter): "That is such unprofessional behaviour to be honest. So a football match makes you inconvenience people who like you but maybe don’t like football."

"Outrageously unprofessional thing to do imho," another wrote, while a third noted: "Understand the reasons, but what about those who have booked accommodation and transport around the original time. They won’t get refunds on these costs. The Euro dates have long been known. A flippant 'u can get a refund' shows a disregard to your fans."

However, some have defended the comedian, one writing on Instagram: "Not even a football fan in the slightest but even I appreciate this decision, as no one will be wanting to watch his show if wanting to see the match themselves understandably, and it is a rare occasion!!"

Another added: "Absolutely can’t blame you. I’d be well happy to have the time changed."
