Brassic star Damien Molony has landed the lead role in the upcoming Bergerac revival.
It was recently announced that UKTV would be rebooting the '80s detective drama, with Doctor Who's Toby Whithouse writing the script.
Molony will step into original lead John Nettles' shoes to play the titular role in the six-episode series.

"I'm incredibly excited to be stepping into the role of Jim Bergerac. John Nettles has left an incredible legacy with big shoes to fill, and I hope I can bring a fresh new take on this iconic character. I can't wait for audiences to join me on this journey," Molony said in a statement.
Molony will star alongside My Family's Zoe Wanamaker, Philip Glenister, Casualty's Sasha Behar, Pippa Haywood and Killing Eve's Robert Gilbert.
What to Read Next
"Viewers will meet Jim Bergerac (Molony) as a broken man, grappling with grief and alcoholism following his wife's recent death. His mother-in-law, Charlie (Wanamaker), is concerned Jim isn't putting his daughter Kim first, and when a woman from a wealthy Jersey family is murdered, Jim must fight through his personal struggles to become the formidable investigator he once was," reads the synopsis.

"With a troublesome convict resurfacing from his past, Bergerac is required to call on his sharp investigative instincts and past successes to navigate the intricate family dynamics, and watchful eyes of the police force, in order to solve the case."
The original show ran for nine series on the BBC from 1981 to 1991. Though the reboot will honour its predecessor, it will be reimagined with some modern twists. Namely, the focus will be on a character-led murder mystery across the series, instead of a new storyline for each episode.
Bergerac will premiere on UKTV Play and Drama in 2025.
