Doctor Who spoilers follow.

Doctor Who has confirmed that Varada Sethu will be boarding the TARDIS alongside Ncuti Gatwa and Millie Gibson in 2025.

The Andor star was spotted filming with Ncuti earlier this year, but now the BBC is confirming that she will share the TARDIS with the Fifteenth Doctor and Ruby Sunday.

While character details for Varada's companion are still being held back, the BBC has released photos of the trio at a readthrough for season 2 / season 15 (depending on your numbering preference).

"I feel like the luckiest person in the world. It is such an honour to be a part of the Whoniverse, and I'm so grateful to the whole Doctor Who family – because that is what they are – for welcoming me with open arms and making me feel so at home," the new companion said.

Back in January, Ncuti and Varada were filming for Doctor Who at Penarth Pier in Wales but, at the time, there was confusion over whether Millie Gibson would be leaving before the new companion arrived on screen.

Showrunner Russell T Davies has now put to bed rumours of Millie's imminent departure, saying: "I first worked with Varada on a BBC production of A Midsummer Night’s Dream, and it's a joy to welcome her on board the TARDIS. Right now in the studio, shooting for 2025, we've got Ncuti, Millie and Varada fighting side by side – we need all three, because the stakes are higher than ever!”

This first look at the 2025 series comes ahead of the relaunch of the show in May with Jinkx Monsoon and Indira Varma in major roles. The producers have already confirmed that Nicola Coughlan will appear in the 2025 Christmas special.
