Adrian Dunbar returns in first-look images at the second series of police procedural Ridley.

The Line of Duty star has been spotted on set of the second series, filming new scenes as former detective Alex Ridley, now working as a police consultant alongside newly promoted detective inspector and Ridley's protégé, Carol Farman (Unforgotten's Bronagh Waugh).

In new images obtained by Digital Spy, Dunbar rocks a brown leather jacket as he's filming outdoors with Waugh.

The series, which began in 2022, follows Dunbar's titular hero, grappling with the loss of both his wife and daughter in an arson attack on their home.

While the ending of the first chapter shed some light on the tragic events, revealing the real culprit of the arson, it also provided some closure for Ridley. He started therapy and returned to performing at the jazz club which he co-owns with Annie (Julie Graham).

Celebrating the show's renewal, Dunbar said: "There can be no greater endorsement of hard work and talent than the recommission of a series, and to that end we have to thank ITV and the British public for taking to Ridley in such numbers."

The actor added: "We shall certainly work just as hard to keep the standard we have set and I look forward to developing Ridley as a character over the next four episodes."

The second series will consist of four episodes penned by Vera writers Paul Matthew Thompson and Michael Bhim together with Midsomer Murders writer Julia Gilbert.

Ridley season 1 is now available in full on ITVX. A release date for season 2 is yet to be announced.
