Doctor Who spoilers follow.

Ncuti Gatwa has shared what he wanted to bring to the title role on Doctor Who.

The Sex Education star made his debut as The Fifteenth Doctor in last week's special 'The Giggle' and will next embark on his first solo adventure on Christmas Day in 'The Church on Ruby Road'.

Showrunner Russell T Davies recently spoke about how Ncuti landed the role with one "astonishing" audition — so Digital Spy and other media asked the actor what he wanted to bring to his Doctor.

"It's such a hard question to answer because the role of The Doctor is everything anyway," Ncuti told us. They're an explorer that has been around for a billion years, and so they have so many quirks and intricacies in life."

Ncuti continued: "[They have] rage and joy, and they're just full of the whole kaleidoscope of emotions. So, to pick what I was going to bring out differently is a very hard question.

"I guess just myself. My Black and beautiful self."

While last weekend's 60th anniversary special set up a potential for another multi-Doctor adventure for Ncuti and David Tennant, showrunner Davies has downplayed that possibility for now.

"No plans genuinely yet because it's a busy TARDIS. These two are going to just sail across the universe and capture your heart. So, it's time to look at these two [Ncuti and Millie Gibson]," Davies explained.

'The Church on Ruby Road' will introduce Millie Gibson as new companion Ruby Sunday as the grown-up version of a foundling The Doctor discovered outside of a church when she was a baby.

Now reunited after many years, The Doctor and Ruby must stop the invasion of a race of space goblins.

Doctor Who continues with 'The Church on Ruby Road', airing on Christmas Day (December 25). The show airs on BBC One in the UK and Disney+ elsewhere.

Classic episodes of Doctor Who are now made available via BBC iPlayer in the UK as well.
