Taskmaster has announced the air date for its upcoming new series, and we don't have very long to wait.

New episodes of the whimsical comedy gameshow, overseen by Greg Davies and Alex Horne, will hit screens on September 21 in its usual 9pm slot on Channel 4.

Of course, a new class of comedians will be on the receiving end of the Taskmaster's whims, each battling it out once again for a golden bust of Greg Davies' head.

This time around the line-up includes Susan Wokoma, who you may recognise from Netflix's Enola Holmes movies as well as the BBC One sitcom Cheaters, and the much-loved former Great British Bake Off host Sue Perkins.

TV legend Julian Clary, who has been a familiar face on screens since the '80s, is also added to the mix, alongside stand-ups Lucy Beaumont (who also pops up on Gogglebox with her husband Jon Richardson from time to time) and Sam Campbell (also known for his role in Sky's Bloods).

Channel 4 has promised that the gang will "wrangle giant ducks" and "design fresh sausages" as part of the Taskmaster's latest set of challenges – and, of course, we'll also be waiting with bated breath to see what useless objects they present at the start of each week.

As if that's not exciting enough, we know that even more Taskmaster is on the way. In March 2023, it was confirmed that the comedy programme had been renewed for a further six series, spanning across another three years.

A brand new spin-off has also been announced, with a junior version which is to be hosted by Taskmaster veterans Rose Matafeo and Mike Wozniak.

Taskmaster series 16 will start on September 21 on Channel 4 at 9pm.
