Grantchester's Tom Brittney has filmed his final scenes.
The actor has been playing Will Davenport alongside Robson Green's Geordie Keating since 2019, but is moving onto pastures new.
Filming for the actor's last scenes saw his character share hugs and emotional farewells with Leonard Finch (Al Weaver), Jack Chapman (Nick Brimble), Mrs C (Tessa Peake-Jones) and others, before getting into the car with other half Bonnie (Charlotte Ritchie) and their baby.
In this photo from the filming, we see Brittney alongside Brimble and Peake-Jones, all in costume and smiling away. Thankfully, this looks to be a happy exit rather than a tragic one.
It's also happy news for fans of the show, as a new sidekick for Geordie has already been lined up, in the shape of Rishi Nair's Alphy Kotteram.
The actor, who previously played Sami Maalik on Hollyoaks, has already been seen filming scenes. Does that mean that the character will be introduced before Will and Bonnie's departure, or are episodes just being filmed out of order? We're intrigued to see how it plays out on screen.

Speaking about his casting, Nair said: "The welcome and support I've received from everyone has been overwhelming.
"The success of the show and the reason we are here for a ninth season is a testament to all the people that have previously worked on it. I'm really excited to get started and cannot wait for the Grantchester fans to meet Alphy and to see all that's in store for him."
Back in July, Brittney said of his exit from the show: "I’ve had the most incredible time playing Will Davenport for the last five years. I got to solve crimes with my best friend, and work with the best cast and crew I could ever ask for. I’ll miss it more than anything.
"But it’s time for the baton to be passed, as it once was to me, and I’m so excited for Rishi to join the Grantchester family."
Granchester airs on ITV1 in the UK and as part of PBS' Masterpiece programming in the US. It also streams on ITVX and Britbox.
