His Dark Materials star Amir Wilson has revealed there had been talks for a possible season 4 of the BBC show.
The fantasy drama based on the novel trilogy of the same name by Philip Pullman has just debuted a third and final season. The show airs its final episode in the US on HBO today (December 26), while fans based in the UK will have to wait till early February to watch the series finale.
Wilson, who plays Will Parry, spoke exclusively with Digital Spy about original plans for more seasons.

"I feel like that was their plan. When I signed on, it was with the 'option to do more seasons' kind of thing. But obviously when I came, they'd already decided to do a season 2. They'd probably known that they were going to do three seasons and kind of leave it at that. Three seasons, three books – it kind of made sense," Wilson explained.
Discussing the hotly-anticipated release of season 3, The Secret Garden star said it's "bittersweet".
"It's a bittersweet moment. I'm so happy that we're finally able to show what we worked so hard for seven months on. But now it's really hitting that it's kind of over," he said.

"I'm happy to be able to share it. But now it's really hitting that it's over, and I won't be playing Will again."
Alongside Wilson, the series also stars James McAvoy, Ruth Wilson and Dafne Keen as protagonist Lyra Belacqua, on a mission to find a missing friend and discovering an eerie kidnapping plot related to a magical substance known as Dust.
His Dark Materials airs on BBC One in the UK and HBO in the US.
