We have the first look at Killing Eve star Alexandra Roach and Game of ThronesIwan Rheon in The Light in The Hall, a new drama from Channel 4.

In the first trailer, which was released exclusively to Digital Spy, we see Roach and Rheon alongside Joanna Scanlan (The Larkins), with the trio set to let sparks fly in the emotional six-part miniseries.

The three are connected by the murder of Ela Roberts which happened 18 years earlier, a crime which Joe (Rheon) confessed to without revealing where he left the body.

As he’s granted parole, old memories are dredged up for Sharon (Scanlan), Ela’s mother, and Cat (Roach), a journalist who returns to her hometown once she hears of Joe’s release.

For her, it’s a chance to write the true events of what happened all those years ago, whilst Sharon is given another opportunity to confront the man who took everything away from her.

With so many questions remaining unanswered, Joe’s return to the community could be a way to get to the bottom of the mystery once and for all, potentially revealing why (or if?) he committed the act and where he hid the body.

The series was written and created by Regina Moriarty, best known for Murdered by My Boyfriend, with directing duties being shared by Andy Newberry and Chris Forster. Episodes will also be filmed in both English and Welsh, with the first episode premiering on January 4.

Upon the announcement of the project last year, Nick Lee, the Head of Acquisitions for Channel 4, said: "Regina’s story of injustice and retribution is truly absorbing. It’s a unique take on a murder-thriller where the clues, characters and story come thick and fast; by adding in such a talented cast it’s a show we are proud to be a partner on."

The Light in The Hall starts on Wednesday January 4 at 9pm on Channel 4, the series will also be available on All 4.
