The Devil's Hour star Jessica Raine has opened up about "super-intense" scenes she shared with co-star Peter Capaldi.
The actress, who plays the role of Lucy – a woman who wakes up every night at the devil's hour, 3.33am, with horrific visions – in the new Prime Video series, spoke exclusively to Digital Spy about working with the Doctor Who star.
Capaldi takes on the role of Gideon, a nomad with a murderous obsession, Raine revealing that their scenes together came later in production.

"It was super-intense," she recalled. "It came about two-thirds through the shoot. I actually hadn’t had too much to do with Peter because the nature of the story is, Lucy is getting hunted by Gideon. So, you know, he’s searching for her, and that’s the arc of the series – until he finds her.
"So we were in a windowless cell for about ten days. Peter had these huge monologues, and it was a face-off between Lucy and Gideon. And it was so thrilling for our first really meaty acting scenes together to be this face-off."

Raine revealed that "you just get to witness, close up, how sinister and menacing Peter made Gideon", adding that there were also "these flashes of really deep sadness and loss".
"Oh, God, it was just amazing to be in a room… It was like a theatre job, you know?" she said. "And just the multiple shots and the nature of the set was that it was mirrored, so you could just see hundreds of Gideons and Lucys in reflection [laughs].
"Yeah, it was pretty spin-y. It was good."
