ITV Hub started its days way back when in 2008, but now, after 14 long years, the TV channel is looking to its future and the arrival of ITVX.

ITV announced that it would be replacing the hub with brand-new streaming service ITVX back in March of this year, and at a panel at the Edinburgh TV Festival yesterday (August 24), the broadcaster confirmed that ITVX will launch in November.

As well as teasing the launch date, ITV big boss Kevin Lygo revealed what fans can expect from the new service when it arrives in a matter of months.

The UK's first integrated advertising and subscription-funded streaming platform, ITVX will feature content "commissioned specifically" for the service, Lygo has confirmed, including titles from America that will be "edgier" (via Variety).

Lygo also promised hundreds of thousands of hours of exciting acquisitions including films, after the platform secured "huge deals with movie studios".

That's not all – there will also "be a new programming event dropped on to the service exclusively" regularly.

Aside from content familiar to the ITV Hub, such as news, entertainment, and comedy, ITVX will also offer users boxsets and exclusive looks at new shows, with some even premiering a month before they air across traditional scheduling.

"I think this way we'll be using the programming to better effect," Lygo said of the decision.

Those new shows will include Damian Lewis and Guy Pearce's upcoming espionage drama A Spy Among Friends, as well as Helena Bonham Carter's Noele Gordon three-parter Nolly.

Sir Lenny Henry's The Little Birds will also get the exclusive ITVX treatment, as will the David Tennant-led thriller Litvinenko.

Looks like we're in for a real treat, telly fans.
