Poldark star Aidan Turner has poured cold water on a revival of the BBC period drama.
The actor played Captain Ross Poldark – a Cornish soldier-turned-farmer – for five seasons before the story drew to an open-ended close in 2019.
Yet despite his character promising wife Demelza (Eleanor Tomlinson) that he'll return to the rugged coastline – he set off for France in the finale – Turner admitted there's no plans for any more episodes.

Asked directly if fans can expect more from the Poldark world, Turner simply responded to Radio Times "no".
However, in reference to Winston Graham's book series, which consists of 12 entries – not all covered by the BBC adaptation – he did hint at playing an older version of Ross.
"There are some books... I need to check what books they are. I think Ross is quite a bit older. I think Jeremy, Ross's son, he's 16 or 18 or something. And I think when we left Ross, I think Jeremy might only be 10. I'm not quite sure."

At the time of the show's conclusion, he suggested: "It doesn't feel like an ending – I don't think that is the BBC being crafty and keeping it open-ended for another series in time, but [while] it feels right, it doesn't feel final final.
"In 10 years' time, Debbie [Horsfield, creator/writer] may come with a script and it would be nice to revisit it and it might be something she is not interested in doing, and some of us aren't either."
So, we'll have to wait and see what may or may not be on the horizon in a few years' time...
