Alex Horne is no stranger to TV success as he's the creator and co-host of Taskmaster.

However, Horne is now beginning a new TV project as he's soon set to launch a scripted comedy series on Channel 4.

The broadcaster has announced the commission of The Horne Section TV Show, which will combine music and comedy.

The upcoming six-part show is written by and stars Horne and his comical band The Horne Section.

"I've known some of these musicians for over 40 years and I can safely say that it's very weird that any of them are now going to be in a six-part scripted comedy series on Channel 4," he remarked.

Channel 4's Head of Comedy Fiona McDermott also shared her enthusiasm for the upcoming series, teasing what fans can expect.

"Alex is an extraordinarily talented comic; unique, charming and unpredictable, The Horne Section TV Show is set to mirror all these qualities, with a unique blend of talk show and sitcom, music and mayhem and we can't wait to share it with the Channel 4 viewers," she said.

Horne started working with the band back in 2010 when they first performed together at the Edinburgh Festival Fringe.

Working alongside Horne in the musical comedy troupe are Joe Auckland (trumpet and banjo), Mark Brown (saxophone and guitar), Will Collier (bass), Ben Reynolds (drums and percussion) and Ed Sheldrake (keyboards).
