Doctor Who trailer for 'Legend of the Sea Devils' special is here

Doctor Who has just delivered the trailer for the second in its series of specials, titled Legend of the Sea Devils.

In a synopsis shared by the BBC last week (March 28), the swashbuckling special will see the Doctor (Jodie Whittaker), Yaz (Mandip Gill) and Dan (John Bishop) come "face to fin with one of the Doctor's oldest adversaries: the Sea Devils".

The trailer finds the trio at odds with the marine monsters and opens with a scene at sea — to which Dan warns: "They're coming straight for us".

It then reveals an ethereal ship headed toward them as the Doctor interjects: "That's impossible!"

"Madame Ching, pirate queen?!" the Doctor asks when she glimpses the unexpected arrival, before another crew member adds: "We don't stand a chance".

As the trailer continues to tease climactic scenes, the title cards tell viewers: "Swashbuckle [...] Your seatbelts [...] For an epic special adventure."

The trailer concludes with a flash montage of epic proportions before Crystal Yu's Madame Ching orders the crew: "Man the cannons!"

The official account for Doctor Who shared the trailer on social media, to which one fan replied: " This episode looks like it's going to be amazing! I can't believe that Jodie's 2nd last episode is almost here already. Going to miss her so much."

Another fan wrote: "It looks so GOOD. This could be Jodie's best episode yet!!!!" whhile a third added: "This might be one of the prettiest Doctor Who eposodes ever, it looks AMAZING."

Doctor Who's next special, 'Legend of the Sea Devils', premieres on April 17 on BBC One in the UK. In the US, the show airs on BBC America, with series 1-12 available on HBO Max.
