Unforgotten has brought in Being Human's Sinéad Keenan to co-lead series 5.
Following the loss of Nicola Walker's DSI Cassie Stuart in the previous series, Sanjeev Bhaskar's DI Sunny Khan needed a new partner, sharpish, and ITV has not disappointed here.
Also recognised for appearances in Little Boy Blue and Doctor Who, the Irishwoman enters the crime drama as DCI Jessica James.

"I have long been an admirer of [creator] Chris Lang's work so I am absolutely delighted to be joining the Unforgotten team. I'm very much looking forward to working with the extraordinary cast led by the brilliant and incredibly lovely, Sanjeev Bhaskar," she said in a statement.
"I'm hoping that if I play my cards right I might even get to take a peek in Sunny's backpack!"

Returning the compliment, Lang himself went on to comment: "And so it begins, a new Unforgotten journey – and it's scary, for Sunny and the Bishop Street team, for the audience, for all of us.

Series 5's opening episode concerns the new DCI's first day on the job – determined to make a strong start in front of her colleagues, will Jessie be in the right frame of mind following a chaotic introduction to her family life?
"Does she have the resolve, professionalism and spirit to live up to her much-admired and respected predecessor?" teased a description, while Jessie's first investigation takes the form of human remains in a newly-renovated Hammersmith property.
Unforgotten returns to ITV for its six-episode fifth series at a later date.
