A League of Their Own presenter Freddie Flintoff has announced he will be leaving the show after 12 years.

The former cricket player has been a presenter on the show since its launch in 2010, taking up the role of team captain during the rigorous rounds of sports-based challenges and quizzes.

He announced the news through a story on his Instagram account with a pair of photographs of him in drag from a 2017 episode and one alongside his co-stars James Corden, Jack Whitehall and Jamie Redknapp.

"It's been 12 years, 16 series, 6 road trips across America & Europe, 2 BAFTAs and a mud bath I'd rather forget, but now the time has come to leave the amazing ALOTO team," wrote Flintoff.

"I'd like to say a huge thanks to all of you who tuned in over the years and to everyone I have worked with on the show – what an unforgettable journey it's been."

Flintoff is not the first presenter to exit the series. Whitehall left ALOTO back in 2018, while Corden had to pull out due to commitments to his US talk show in 2019 and later due to Covid restrictions in 2020.

As of late, Flintoff, Redknapp and newcomer Romesh Ranganathan have served as the hosts of the beloved sports programme.

At the very least, it has certainly been a wild ride for the presenter. During his 12 year stint on the series, he has participated in challenges such as human bowling, drag, diving, and even taking a mud bath.

He will be making his final appearance in the latest instalment of the A League of Their Own Road Trip series, Road Trip: Dingle To Dover.

Road Trip: Dingle To Dover is due to air in Spring 2022 on Sky Max.
