Doctor Who reveals details about Jodie Whittaker's final episode

Doctor Who: Flux has only just reached the halfway point, but the series is already looking ahead and planning for the future. Well, time is wibbly wobbly, we suppose.

As Jodie Whittaker's final full season continues, the BBC series has confirmed when her last appearance as the Thirteenth Doctor will air – and fans have got a while yet.

Slowly but surely setting the scene for the Doctor's next regeneration, Doctor Who has told fans that Whittaker's last-ever episode will air next autumn, as part of the BBC's Centenary celebrations.

"Having been in charge of the TARDIS since filming began in 2017, showrunner Chris Chibnall and Jodie Whittaker are set to leave the most famous police box on Earth – and the Universe," the show's official Twitter account confirmed.

"Having faced many perilous journeys battling some of the most feared monsters throughout space and time, it's the final instalment for the Thirteenth Doctor."

As well as announcing Thirteen's autumn exit, Doctor Who hinted that Chibnall and Whittaker's farewell episode will be feature length, describing it as an "epic blockbuster".

In the special, fans will see the "Doctor fight evil across the galaxy one last time, but just who will she come up against in her final battle before the Doctor regenerates once more"?

Meanwhile, series 13 – or Flux – continues this weekend, with the upcoming episode 'Village of the Angels' promising the long-anticipated return of the Weeping Angels.

Doctor Who: Flux (aka series 13) airs weekly every Sunday night on BBC One in the UK. In the US, the show airs on BBC America, with series 1-12 available on HBO Max.
