Doctor Who Flux episode 3 ratings revealed by the BBC

The third episode of Doctor Who: Flux aired on BBC One on Sunday (November 14), and the ratings have begun to drop.

The instalemnt, titled 'Once, Upon Time', saw Line of Duty star Craig Parkinson join the cast as the Grand Serpent, but overnight ratings still dropped by 200,000 from last week.

The BBC's entertainment correspondent Lizo Mzimba has revealed 3.76 million people tuned in to watch Sunday's episode, while the second episode drew 3.96 million. The premiere, 'The Halloween Apocalypse', drew a whopping 4.43 million, Radio Times reports.

In the rankings for Sunday's BBC shows, it dropped into fourth place, following Strictly Come Dancing, Top Gear and Countryfile. The week before, it managed to beat out Countryfile for the third spot.

However, Mzimba did highlight that many Whovians will tune in on iPlayer to catch up later, which fewer will do for Countryfile.

It remains to be seen whether the viewing figures will pick back up again later in the season.

It's not uncommon for the premiere to see higher ratings than the following episodes, but it's not until iPlayer figures are consolidated with the live viewing figures that we will know the full picture of how Flux measures up.

This Sunday (November 21), the fourth episode, titled 'Village of the Angels', will include the much-anticipated return of the Weeping Angels, which may well see more fans tune in live.

The episode synopsis reads: "Devon, November 1967. A little girl has gone missing. Professor Eustacius Jericho is conducting psychic experiments. And in the village graveyard, there is one gravestone too many. Why is Medderton known as 'The Cursed Village'? And what do the Weeping Angels want?"

Kevin McNally, known for starring in the Pirates of Caribbean films and The Crown, will play Professor Jericho.

Doctor Who: Flux (aka series 13) airs weekly every Sunday night on BBC One in the UK. In the US, the show airs on BBC America, with series 1-12 available on HBO Max.
