"Tiny, but perfectly formed we are all beyond happy and besotted by her, especially Ted and Kit.

Alex recently bid The One Show a tearful goodbye ahead of her maternity leave, as a number of her friends from the show paid tribute to her.

Wiping her eyes, she said to her co-hosts: "Oh well you know me, I cry anyway at the slightest thing but honestly, being here has just been superb.

"I love doing it every night and it's really hard to go away, even though it's the third time. It's hard to go away."

She added: "I just want to say in case I missed anybody, a big thank you to everybody who has knitted lovely little gifts for the baby. There is about 25 cardigans. She will be in cardigan heaven, this little girl.
