Doctor Who's Michelle Gomez returns as Missy for new crossover with classic villain

Michelle Gomez's Missy is back in the world of Doctor Who for an all-new Big Finish audio drama series.

The fan-favourite from the Peter Capaldi era will be back in her TARDIS for her three-part series, but this time she'll have an unpleasant guest travelling through time and space with her!

Dancing on Ice's Rufus Hound will be joining Missy Series 3 as The Meddling Monk, the very first villainous Time Lord ever shown in Doctor Who back in the 1960s.

While he's more mischievous than outright evil, the Monk uses his time-travelling capabilities to try to tweak pivotal moments in history.

However, he'll have a formidable frenemy when he hitches a ride in Missy's TARDIS and leads them straight into an interplanetary war in her Big Finish series.

The series climaxes with the two Time Lords crossing paths with a Meddling Nun – played by Game of Thrones actress Gemma Whelan.

Big Finish has Missy Series 3 up for pre-order now ahead of a September 2021 release, available in both physical format (on CD) and as digital files.

Michelle Gomez remains firmly entrenched in Doctor Who's audio drama world, and she also recently told Digital Spy that she'd be keen for Missy to pop back in the TV series too.

"I would love to, at some point, pop back up again. That's a firm, 'Yes, I am available'. Well, I'm not actually [laughs]. Not right now. But I will be. I will be!"

Doctor Who airs on BBC One in the UK. In the US, the show airs on BBC America, with series 1-12 available on HBO Max. Series 13 is due to premiere later this year.
