Gavin & Stacey fans have spent years wondering what really happened to Uncle Bryn on that infamous fishing trip – but cast member Rob Brydon is none the wiser.
One of the running jokes throughout the BBC series has been that Bryn had one of the most traumatic experiences of his life on a long-ago fishing trip.
When Digital Spy exclusively chatted with Rob recently, he admitted that he's actually in the dark about what sea-faring horror Uncle Bryn must have endured.

"I don't know. It's never been told to me, and I don't think Ruth [Jones] and James [Corden] know," he said. "I think it was always just a very funny idea they had, that wouldn't it be funny if there was some elephant in the room, if there was some huge thing that hung over the family but was never talked about.

"We came close to hearing something in the Christmas special last year, where it looked as though Bryn was about to spill the beans."
Though viewers may be itching to find out what really happened, Rob isn't in favour of the secret ever actually being revealed.
"I honestly don't know and I like the fact we don't know. I think it's great. I think it would be a shame if we ever found out," he said.

Here's hoping viewers can at least get answers over whether Smithy said 'yes' to Nessa someday. Unfortunately, there is likely to be a significant delay...
