Our Girl viewers were left in tears tonight (April 14) when the BBC military drama confirmed the fate of fan-favourite character Private Frankie 'Fingers' Stille.
Following on from last week's cliffhanger, which saw Corporal Georgie Lane (Michelle Keegan), Colour Sergeant 'Kingy' King (Rolan Bell) and co attempt to flee an ambush, the show's latest episode had Fingers (Sean Ward) die from his wounds, having been shot by the opposing side.

Before he passed, though, the team managed to stabilise his condition in the back of the truck they tried to escape in and get him to a nearby medical centre. Before they started treating him, the newlywed made sure to ring his new Mrs before everything went south.
"Marie, how you doing? I've got myself into a spot of bother, babe. We might have to have our honeymoon at the QE in Birmingham," he said over the phone, before Georgie placed an oxygen mask over his face.

Shortly after Prof (Nico Mirallegro) met an anxious Georgie in the hospital, Fingers's condition worsened and despite the best efforts of Dr. Antonio (Josh Bowman), his injuries proved too severe and he didn't make it.
"His enthusiasm never wavered. We've all lost a brilliant soldier, and a friend," an emotional Kingy addressed the platoon later on. Meanwhile, Georgie took it upon herself to break the news to Fingers's wife and empty out his locker.
Unsurprisingly, those tuning in at home took to social media to share how upset they were about the character's death, with one person writing: "Wow, what an emotional episode that was. Wasn't ready to say goodbye to Fingers yet. Fantastic acting by all involved!!"
"Feel like I have lost my best friend," another added, while a third said: "I'm not even going to lie here I sobbed my heart out."
