Line of Duty's Martin Compston and Doctor Foster's Suranne Jones have signed on for the all-star cast of new BBC thriller Vigil.
The six-part series from The Crown and Strike writer Tom Edge will send DCI Amy Silva (Jones) into the middle of a dispute between police, the Navy and the British security services.
As DCI Silva investigates the disappearance of a Scottish fishing trawler and a death on board a Trident submarine, she is drawn into a conspiracy with the British nuclear deterrent.
"Tom Edge has created a thrill of a story, set in a world I knew nothing about," Jones said. "The cast and crew World Productions have put together to tell this story is so exciting. Amy Silva is a brilliantly complex character, thrown into a highly charged situation where her authority is weakened.
"We watch as she navigates her own personal trauma and loss, all at a time when she's questioning her relationships and life choices. It feels fresh and relevant and I can't wait to start filming."
The outstanding cast includes a Doctor Foster reunion for Suranne Jones and Adam James, with Game of Thrones' Rose Leslie, Timeless star Paterson Joseph, Bodyguard's Anjli Mohindra, Endeavour star Shaun Evans, Sex Education actor Connor Swindells and His Dark Materials' Gary Lewis also appearing.

Vigil will be filmed later this year in Scotland.
