The first episode of The Trial of Christine Keeler premiered on Sunday night (December 29) and viewers are up in arms about one key detail.

The six-part BBC series is based on the very real 1963 Profumo Affair, in which Keeler, a model and showgirl, was jailed for her involvement in a political scandal with John Profumo, the Conservative cabinet minister.

Starring Sophie Cookson (Gypsy, Red Joan) as Keeler and an all-star cast including James Norton, Ellie Bamber and Emilia Fox, the series used a non-chronological narrative that seemed to confuse viewers.

However, there was one detail that confused them even more.

In the closing minutes of the episode, Christine and her friend Mandy (Bamber) are shot at though a window by her ex-boyfriend Johnny (Nathan Stewart-Jarrett).

"There's no way that taxi driver would have waited," said one viewer.

"Very odd Taxi Driver didn’t just drive away!?" added another.

"Why on earth did the taxi driver sit there waiting for Johnny to shoot up the place then drive him away, he could have been shot too?" said another.

The taxi scene massively sets up what's to come, as it puts Christine back in touch with Prufumo himself.

Eek.
