Line of Duty may have just wrapped its fifth series, but with certain questions left unanswered, we're hungry for more – so when should we expect series six?
There was a two-year gap between the fourth and fifth series, while writer/creator Jed Mercurio worked on his *other* hit BBC series Bodyguard. So should we expect another long wait for more LoD, while production on a Bodyguard sequel gets underway?
Speaking to Digital Spy, Mercurio said that he's still in discussions with the BBC about the scheduling of both shows.

"We're currently in talks with the BBC about the future of both series," he said. "So at this point it's not possible to say what will happen next. But it's impossible to work on the two of them simultaneously, so it would have to be sequential."
So while it's not clear if we'll get Bodyguard series two before we get more Line of Duty, Mercurio's busy schedule mean it's unlikely we'll ever get new episodes of both shows in a single year.
What to Read Next
Bit of a champagne problem, that.
With work yet to get underway on Line of Duty series six, it's not been established which cast members will be back – besides the regular trio of Martin Compston (DS Steve Arnott), Vicky McClure (DI Kate Fleming) and Adrian Dunbar (Det. Supt. Ted Hastings).

But Mercurio did admit it's possible that Anna Maxwell Martin will be back as DCS Patricia Carmichael. "It was great working with Anna and I thought she did a fantastic job with that character," he said. "Like some of the other people who come into the series, they remain an asset that we may be able to use in the future."
Line of Duty Series 5 and Complete 1 – 5 Box Set are out on DVD from May 6.
