Line of Duty is currently hooking the nation with its fifth series and the burning question of who the mysterious bent copper 'H' is. And fans will be glad to know that once this year's batch of episodes wrap up, a sixth series has already been commissioned by the BBC.
Beyond that... well, who knows? The show's creator Jed Mercurio would like to find out sooner rather than later how long the Beeb wants the drama to go on for, since he needs to know if he can go into writing series six with the intention of wrapping it all up.
Speaking to The Sun, he said: "We’re looking forward to a conversation with the BBC once series five has aired... about whether there is an appetite from fans to have more, or whether there’s a feeling the show is coming towards its natural arc.
"That conversation will be very specific, which is whether series six will be the last, or whether the BBC would be prepared to commission a seventh so we can approach series six knowing it’s not the last."
Considering the debut of the fifth series broke a ratings record for the show, we think that appetite is definitely there. Let's just hope there aren't any logistical issues that get in the way of a series seven.
Line of Duty airs Sunday nights at 9pm on BBC One.
