Former Penny Dreadful star Eva Green makes her TV comeback in a new look at the BBC's lavish period drama The Luminaries.
The James Bond actress appears mystical in one of three first-look photos from BBC Two's upcoming adaptation of Eleanor Catton's award-winning novel set during the 1860s gold rush in New Zealand.
She joins an ensemble cast that includes former EastEnders star Himesh Patel, The Knick's Eve Hewson and Top of the Lake's Ewen Leslie as travellers from all over the world who flock to New Zealand’s South Island in hopes of striking it rich.
This "epic story of love, murder and revenge" will bind them all as young Emery Staines (Patel) meets the adventurous Anna Wetherell, establishing a magical connection that neither can explain.
Green recently said of joining the series: "I'm thrilled to be joining [production company] Working Title and this wonderful team.
"Eleanor has written a series of brilliant screenplays. I loved her original novel and it's so exciting that her own screen adaptation reveals yet more exquisite material."
