The candles have now been lit and the blood is being poured into goblets. This can only mean one thing – the Dracula TV series has finally kicked off production.
Featuring the great Dane, Claes Bang, as the toothy Count, and Sherlock's Steven Moffat and Mark Gatiss shadowing the project into creation, this exciting news was announced via Moffat's Instagram page.
He wrote: "Night has fallen ... it's a new dawn," which seems to have sparked a wild reaction from fans on social media.
"Good luck!! Wishing you the best and hope you'll have a great time...can't wait for it!" one follower responded, while more added: "Best news in depressing times...a dream team providing excellent entertainment. ..can't wait," and "Sweet!!! Filming for Dracula! Brilliant set of creators/writers/producers right there! Sending love from across the pond! Brits have the best telly!!"
Also, notice how those appearing in the photograph are situated in a dank, dark chamber of some sort. How very gothic.
We definitely can't wait for this one!
What to Read Next
Previously, Moffat and Gatiss explained how their TV adaptation of Bram Stoker's iconic work will have a huge twist.
"There's lots of things that are challenging about Dracula," said the former. "Having an evil lead character is actually really difficult. That's been the main challenge I think. But how we've handled [it], that you'll have to wait and see."
Gatiss chimed in: "It's been very exciting though. Because we sort of made a promise to ourselves and the people who are making it, paying for it, that we'd make Dracula the hero of his own story, and less of a shadowy presence."
Dracula doesn't currently have an official airdate.
