This is what every single Starbucks Christmas cup has looked like over the last 20 years

Blue...

And green. The holiday drinks at the time were Eggnog Lattes and Christmas Blend brewed coffee.

The following year, Starbucks ran with the whole purple thing again, but this time added some pretty snowflakes.

But it was in 1999 that the design team first settled on the 'candy apple red' that customers have come to associate with Christmas at Starbucks. 

"There was a response to that shade of red," the creative design manager at that time said. "It was a joyous colour, and it really resonated with customers."

Gingerbread Lattes made their debut in 2000, and they did so in these cute, crafty "Coffeetown" cups.

Enter the White Chocolate Mocha – back with a vengeance this year – in a Starbucks Christmas cup that also looked like a present.

There were two flavours in 2001, the other being this sweet stamp design.

Cute illustrations were the order of the day in 2002.

While the 2003 cup had a delicate snowflake design.

Remember when the Starbucks wreath was made to look like a Christmas wreath? Adorbs.

We particularly love the pretty fairy lights decorating the rim.

This traditional cup design features cut-out paper men in a wintry scene.

For the 10th anniversary of holiday cups, Starbucks went all out with… another magical snowy scene.

2008 was given the knitted Christmas jumper effect.

The Caramel Brulée Latte debuted in this Christmassy cup.

The rather modern 2010 cups were a bit of a change from the previous decade of nostalgia.
