Updated article. The suspect for Sunday's (August 26) mass shooting at the EA games tournament in Jacksonville, Florida has been named as David Katz, a 24-year-old white male from Baltimore, the Jacksonville Sheriff's Office have confirmed.

Sheriff Mike Williams also said that there were three fatalities, including Katz, who is believed to have taken his own life. Katz is the only suspect at this time.

The two victims have not yet been formally named, but both are believed to have been professional gamers taking part in a Madden NFL tournament at the GLHF Game Barin Jacksonville Landing.

14 people are known to have been injured, 12 of which had gunshot wounds and two of which sustained other injuries during the attack, although Williams added that "this number may change when we hear from other victims".

The sheriff confirmed that all of the injured persons currently in hospital were in a stable condition.

Katz was believed to have stayed locally at a hotel on the night before the shooting, and anyone with information concerning his movements is advised to phone the Jacksonville Sheriff's Department on (904) 630 0500.

Original article: There have been multiple fatalities in a mass shooting at an EA game tournament in Florida, according to police.

The Jacksonville Sheriff's Office tweeted that numerous people have been injured and warned others to stay away from the event.

They wrote: "Mass shooting at the Jacksonville Landing. Stay far away from the area. The area is not safe at this time. STAY AWAY."

They confirmed that there has been multiple fatalities and that one suspect is dead at the scene. It's currently unknown if there is a second suspect, but a SWAT team is conducting a search.

After hearing of the attack, EA released a statement on their official Twitter account.

It read: "We are aware of an incident at a sanctioned Madden Championship Series competition in Jacksonville. We are working with authorities to gather facts at this stage."

The shooting took place during a Madden NFL computer game tournament, which was being live-streamed via social media and Twitch.

Sheriff Mike Williams said in a statement that there are "no outstanding suspects at this time," but that one suspect is deceased at the scene.

"He is a white male and we are still working to confirm his identity.

"We have deceased victims at the scene, and we also have injured people at the hospital," he added.

Williams did not confirm the number of fatalities or injured individuals.

He confirmed officers were "aware" of a video circulating on social media appearing to show some of the incident, and encouraged people to share "additional video, or any other information about the incident" with the Sheriff's Office.
