If you've ever booked a holiday abroad then you've most definitely used Skyscanner to help you find cheap flights to your destination. The flight comparison website can tell you the cheapest, most convenient way to fly from A to B in a matter of minutes – and the app just got even more useful.

Now, you can also use SkyScanner to find cheap train journeys, and compare fares of your chosen route. Not only that, but you'll be able to actually book your train tickets through the app, using a feature powered by international travel booking service Trip.com.

Bryan Dove, Skyscanner's chief technology officer, said: "Our focus has always been on making travel as easy as possible and our new train feature will do just that, with the benefit of no booking fees."

Unfortunately for anyone without a device operated by iOS, you'll have to wait for the new app feature to be trialled before it comes to Android 'shortly'. There's no mention as to whether it will become a feature of the website just yet.

All we DO know is that being able to search and book train fares in this way should make travel across the UK a whole lot easier.

Now, if only the Government will release a few more of those 'millennial' railcards, eh?
