You may remember last week's announcement from Apple that a number of iPhone models harboured power issues.

If not, it turns out a select group of iPhone 6s devices are affected by a battery fault, with the Cupertino giant set to offer replacements.

While customers should already be aware of the issue themselves through a poorly performing battery (the devices will abruptly shut down), Apple didn't really give a surefire way of seeing if your phone was one of the unlucky ones.

The only caution was that devices manufactured between September and October 2015 could potentially be prone.

With most of us not aware of our phone's birthday, you may have already been forced to check via the Apple Store. Thanks to 9to5Mac, though, there's now a way for you to check against an affected devices list from home.

First, you'll want to scout out your serial number. This is located on the back of your device below the 'S' icon, or you can head to Settings > General > About.

Found it? All set?

OK, now you'll need to check if the figures in the fourth and fifth spot match any of these combinations:

Q3, Q4, Q5, Q6, Q7, Q8, Q9, QC, QD, QF, QG, QH, QJ

If you happen to have won the unfortunate iPhone bingo, you should probably head on down to Apple - even if you're yet to experience issues.

Just make sure your handset is in good enough shape to have its battery replacement operation (that means no cracked screens), as Apple will require you fixing this beforehand.
