It's fair to say that Donald Trump has made a few enemies during his presidential bid, but perhaps none so powerful as his latest foe.

Hacktivist collective Anonymous has the divisive Republican in its crosshairs and the group has vowed to grind his campaign to a halt.

In a video posted on the official Anonymous YouTube channel, the organisation declared "total war" on Trump and promised to "shut down his campaign and sabotage his brand".

"Your inconsistent and hateful campaign has not only shocked the United States of America, you have shocked the entire planet with your appalling actions and ideas," said an Anonymous representative, wearing the collective's signature Guy Fawkes mask, in a message to Trump.

The group has posted a message on Twitter requesting assistance to help take down TrumpChicago.com on April 1, as well as the presidential candidate's personal and business websites.

Trump was previously targeted by the organisation last year after he called for a ban on Muslims travelling into the US.

Anonymous has also threatened to expose embarrassing information about Trump. At least they won't have to look very hard to find that.
