Facebook 'Likes' are so restrictive - what if we don't give a damn about the latest picture of your cat or how much you just benchpressed at the gym?

Well aware of the limitations of the current system, the social network is on the verge of rolling out Reactions, an emoji-based feature that lets users express a broad range of emotions on the service.

According to Bloomberg, Reactions are set to go live on Facebook in the UK and the rest of the world within the "next few weeks".

The 'thumbs down' icon users have been calling for is not included, but the new system will allow users to tag posts with symbols for Like, Love, Haha, Yay, Sad, Angry and Wow.

Accessing the Reactions menu is a simple case of long pressing the bottom of a post. A panel will then pop up to denote how many times each symbol has been selected for that particular update.

Facebook has been trialling the feature among a select group of users in Spain and Ireland to iron out any glitches ahead of its full rollout.

Not seen the reactions you're after? No, us either. These are the 11 Facebook reaction we REALLY need.
