Amazon has teamed up with the American airline JetBlue to provide its customers with access to the Instant Video library while in the air.

The company will provide its films, television shows, Kindle books, music and apps - all built into the JetBlue Fly-Fi Hub.

The films and television shows will be completely free for Amazon Prime customers, while non-members will be able to rent content individually.

This marks Amazon's first foray into in-flight entertainment, with vice president of digital video at Amazon Michael Paull saying: "We will raise the bar in airline entertainment."

If you're worrying about getting signal while aboard, the streaming service will use JetBlue's Fly-Fi, a satellite internet connection which is powered by Exede Internet.

The announcement will greatly increase the amount of available in-flight entertainment.

Unfortunately, JetBlue only operates within the US and Latin America, with no news of possible deals this side of the Atlantic.
