So on the iPad's 5th anniversary, we've taken a look back at some of the milestones this 'magical' device has achieved.
2010 - The year it all began
January 27: Steve Jobs took to the stage to announce a new Apple device named the iPad. The first generation tablet went on sale in the US on April 3, 2010, and it was Apple's fastest selling device in history - selling over 300,000 iPads on the first day.
May 3: Apple sells 1 million iPads in one month, and later in May the company announce it has sold 2 million iPads in less than 60 days.
October 22: Barack Obama becomes the first US president to sign an autograph on an iPad.
2011 - The difficult second album

January 6: Sean John Combs, AKA Puff Daddy, AKA P. Diddy, sails his $850,000 super-yacht with everything but the captain's wheel controlled from his iPad.
March 2: Apple introduces the iPad 2, now including front and rear-facing cameras and a slimmer design.
March 25: Guinness World Records names the iPad as the "fastest-selling consumer electronics device" in history.
March 31: In the Modern Family episode "Game Changer" Phil Dunphy gets an iPad for his birthday. "The iPad comes out on my actual birthday. It's like Steve Jobs and God got together to say, 'We love you, Phil'."
April 18: The Gorillaz release 'The Fall', which was entirely recorded on Damon Albarn's iPad while on tour.
May 9: Queen Elizabeth II orders an iPad after seeing Prince William and Harry use theirs.
June: Alaska Airlines is the first commercial airline to replace their pilot manuals with iPads. Others follow, including British Airways and Ryanair.
2012 - Still going strong
January 21: The Royal Academy in London opens a new exhibition featuring landscapes drawn on an iPad.
March 7: Apple introduces the new iPad, featuring a Retina Display which packs in four times the number of pixels than the previous device.
June 6: Karl Lagerfeld tells WWD that his cat has an iPad and she knows how to use it.
October 23: Apple introduce the iPad mini featuring 7.9-inch display, and a fourth generation iPad.
November 5: The two new iPads rack up 3 million sales in just three days after launch.
December 12: Pope Benedict XVI give the iPad his holy seal of approval by tweeting his first blessing from the device.
2013 - The iPad reaches new heights
May 12: Astronaut Chris Hadfield takes his iPad to the International Space Station. He sends back a recording of himself covering David Bowie's 'Space Oddity'.
October 22: Tim Cook unveils the thinner, lighter iPad Air and an iPad mini with Retina display. Both feature Apple's 64-bit A7 chip.
2014 - The iPad on a biblical scale
January 7: Now over half a million apps have been designed specifically for iPads.
March 28: The biblical film movie Noah features an epic storm scene in which 5,000 gallons of water are poured every minute - all controlled by iPad and a single app.
October 16: iPad Air 2 is introduced by Tim Cook as the thinnest, most powerful iPad ever. We also see the iPad mini 3 introduced. Both offer Touch ID.
October 16: iPads are now available in Gold.
October 24: Queen Elizabeth II uses an iPad to send her first tweet at the Science Museum. #RoyalSelfie

2015 - An exciting future
January 27: iPad racks up more than a quarter of a billion sales worldwide in total.
March 25: The British government announce that all members of parliament will be given iPad Air 2, presumably to play Flappy Bird when PMQs gets boring.
April 3: The iPad turns 5, Happy Birthday iPad!
