Sony today announced its new Xperia Tablet Z4 - designed to give users a premium tablet with a 10-inch screen size, or what Sony calls "full-size".

It's also waterproof, and like the M4 Aqua phone that Sony also launched at MWC, it no longer needs a rubber cap for the USB socket to stay alive underwater.

Sony has, it seems, been listening to feedback from customers - and even though it says that the public love the Z3 Tablet Compact, it has still improved things. Now, the new tablet is thinner, lighter and more powerful.

In terms of specs, it's running Qualcomm's latest Snapdragon, the 810. There's also 3G of RAM to help apps run smoothly, and give them a fast load-time.

The screen is also hugely improved, and now boasts a 2K resolution of 2560x1600. More importantly, though, it's also one of the brightest screens on any tablet, which means that when summer rolls around, you'll be able to head to the beach.

Sony is also selling a keyboard dock to go with the Z4. This is especially interesting because the firm stopped making laptops last year.

This then, is a real attempt to try and move users over from Windows and Mac-based PCs and into Android tablet computing. The keyboard looks great, and keeps the Z4's screen protected in your bag by folding flat over it .

Sony has also further tweaked Android with the clear intention of making its tablets more usable as a general computer. There is a customisable app launcher, which you can use much like the Windows start menu to get to apps quicker.

Photography is provided for too, but the rear-mounted camera is just 8.1-megapixels. Seriously, though, stop taking photos with tablets - you're making the rest of us phone snappers very cross indeed!
