Assassin's Creed Shadows has dropped its first trailer — and revealed its release date and pre-order options, too.
The latest entry in Ubisoft's historical stealth series takes players to Japan in its 16th century feudal era, with corrupt foreign influence, civil unrest and various coalitions fighting for control.
The game (which is available for pre-order now) follows two characters, with shinobi Assassin Naoe harkening back to the traditional gameplay of the series' earlier instalments, mixing up the gameplay with light and shadow elements.

The samurai Yasuke is all about combat, embodying the more action-heavy approach of the 2017 to 2020 era.
As well as all the open-world exploration that is typical of the series, there's a base-building mechanic which not only allows players to make the game world feel a bit more theirs, but ties into the other new mechanic: creating a network of spies.

As if often the case, there are multiple editions of the game, as well as pre-order bonuses.
All three premium versions, starting with the Gold Edition, will come with three days early access, and a season pass which includes multiple upcoming expansions.
The Ultimate Edition comes with cosmetic additions for both characters and the base, an extra photo mode filter, and five skill points to spend. The Collector's Edition includes physical items like a steelbook, wall scroll, art book, and figures on top of that.
