The Persona series can boast having one of the best games of 2024 so far with Persona 3 Reload.

However, it's not quite the best in the franchise. That title goes to Persona 5 Royal – and if you've never played it and want to see what the fuss is all about (it has a Metacritic score of 95), the game is on sale right now.

Over on CDKeys, the Steam PC version is available for £22.99 / $29.39, which is 54% off.

The Xbox version is even cheaper if you are looking for a UK code. It's priced at £18.99, which is 62% off.

The vanilla version was already stunning, but it's the Royal-exclusive content that elevates that experience into a true modern classic.

The story follows a group of students, led by protagonist Joker, who decide to fight back in a corrupt society as vigilantes after they awaken to powers in a realm called the Metaverse.

Becoming Phantom Thieves, they use their power to change the hearts of criminals and corrupted individuals, taking away their targets' evil desires to make them confess to and atone for their crimes.

Royal adds another 20 hours to the story, which are an emotional roller coaster and feature arguably the best dungeon and the best villain in the whole game.

There are also two new major characters to befriend: Kasumi Yoshizawa, a gymnast and fellow student, and Dr Takuto Maruki, a counsellor at Shujin Academy.

Like with Persona 3 and Persona 4, the release of Persona 5 led to a number of spin-offs including rhythm game Dancing in Starlight, Musou game Strikers, and tactical RPG Tactica.

Developer Atlus is rumoured to be working on Persona 6 for release in 2025.

Persona 5 Royal is available on PC, PlayStation, Xbox, and Nintendo Switch.
