Sky has put $500,000 into a new television tech startup called Pluto.TV.
The service aggregates video from the internet and then creates TV channels from it.
Online video is divided up into various genres and categories, not unlike a normal EPG, and then delivered all via a single stream.
Genres include comedy, sports and music. At the moment, Pluto.TV works across both mobile devices and desktop computers.
Sky has claimed that the partnership is to help the brand push innovation in its understanding of how people watch TV.
"This partnership enables Sky to draw on the ground-breaking work Pluto.TV are doing to help viewers discover and enjoy the best of online TV through an intuitive and editorially rich TV platform," explained Emma Lloyd, Sky's Director of Corporate Business Development.
