More hours were spent playing The Sims 4 than ever before in 2023.

As is tradition for this time of year, EA shared a variety of stats for the past calendar year tied to its franchises.

For The Sims 4, 1.8 billion hours were played in total this year. For comparison, in 2022 it was 1.4 billion hours and in 2021 it was 1.2 billion hours.

2023's total is the best-ever for the game in a single year.

Horses were introduced in the Horse Ranch expansion this year

This year, The Sims 4 saw the release of three full expansions: Growing Together, Horse Ranch, and For Rent.

There was also Home Chef Hustle, the first Stuff Pack in nearly three years.

The popular life-simulation title is more than nine years old now, having first launched in 2014.

But there are no signs of it slowing down just yet, with EA and Maxis promising to continue supporting the game even though The Sims 5 is in development.

"We plan to support both at the same time, and we're going to continue to bring even more exciting content to The Sims 4 for the foreseeable future," VP franchise creative Lyndsay Pearson said back in September.

The Sims 4 is available on PC, Mac, PlayStation 4 and 5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X|S.
